Loughor Parish has two churches:
St Michael’s stands near Loughor castle and the road and rail bridges across the river Loughor heading west towards Llanelli. It is a traditional church, surrounded by a churchyard.
St David’s is on Glebe Road at the corner with Whitley Road. A new, dual purpose building with a car park behind it.
The Priest in Charge is the Rev Ian Drew-Jones. In addition to Sunday and midweek services, Togs (a Parent/Carer and Toddler Group) meets in St David’s, and there is a Bible Study.
On November 18, 2018, the following announcement was made:
The Archbishop wishes to announce that he has
invited the Reverend Ian Drew-Jones to be
Priest-in-Charge of Manselton & Cwmbwrla and
Associate Priest in the Penderi Ministry Area, and
that offer has been formally accepted. A date for
his formal licensing will be announced shortly.
The Benefice of Loughor will now go into a period
of interregnum and will be overseen by the Area
Dean, Canon Peter Brooks, who will be assisted
by the Ministry Area Leader, Canon Ian Davies.
Please remember Ian and his family in your
prayers as they prepare for their move to
Manselton in the New Year.
There is a Church in Wales webpage
